Is natural skincare really better?
Health company Global By Nature have been kind enough to partner with me on this review, sending me a selection of zk’in certified organic skincare products to test out. All products mentioned, along with others, can be purchased on the nutrimarket website (…with a tempting 20% off just for LYDSBERRYPIE readers – use the code ‘LLLClub’ and click FOLLOW below)
How about a bit of background brand info? Zk’in certified organics is a natural, organic, toxin free skincare brand with a range of products for all skin types (cleverly colour coded for ease). Eager to test out whether natural skincare actually works, I’ve put them to the test. Read on for my findings.
Why is quality skincare so fundamental? My Mum regularly preaches about the importance of good skincare. A decision to make skin a priority at a young age rooted her now daily rituals, and she’s thankful to her 12-year-old-self to this day (and the domestic science teachers who decided to give cooking and sewing a break for a term and focus on a series of ‘how to take good care of yourself’ lessons). Skin secrets? Nothing complicated or over-the-top: a minimal routine consisting of three stages, morning and night without fault. Cleanse, tone, moisturise. Simples.
Using zk’in‘s products has opened my eyes on the wonders of natural, organic ingredients. Why care so much about what I’m putting into my body yet not bother when it comes to products I’m using on my body? (Many people don’t always register that our bodies absorbs all the good – and bad – we slather, spray and rub into our skin). Natural, organic skin care is becoming increasingly popular as more people ‘see the light’ when it comes to the chemicals in skincare products. But:
Does organic skincare actually work?
First we cleanse. Most notable asset of this zk’in’s Purifying Cleansing Gel? The scent, of all things. Washing my face encompassed in its subtle yet distinct aroma has been rather a novel experience. Quite minor, you could say, although it transforms the chore of washing your face into a more pleasurable experience. Unlike most cleansers, this one doesn’t lather and has a rather runny texture which took a little while to get used to. That said, the fresh feeling post-wash leaves no doubt about the effectiveness of this cleanser.
Toning is a step I often skip, although since making the effort to include it my routine, I’ve noticed a huge difference in my skin. Zk’in’s Clear Skin Toner is an incredibly handy post-gym freshen up, which has persuaded me that when I’m seriously dripping in sweat, a feeble splash of water really isn’t enough. After using this product, my skin feels squeaky clean, no better feeling than that.
I feel obliged to begin by commending the packaging on this product: a pump. Genius. Clean and convenient, the best of combos. Being someone with combination skin, I’m always wary of moisturisers. Finding something that works for my entire face is a tricky business indeed; too often products tend to suffocate oilier areas whilst leaving drier patches unquenched. However I’ve finally found the solution: this. Zk’in’s Rebalancing Lotion is lightweight yet hydrating – a gorgeously smooth mix of the two. With this I can wave goodbye to the shiny T-zone and say hello to smooth, soft skin.
I’d sum up zk’in Organics Products with this phrase: well-thought through. From the organic ingredients, down to the thoughtful packaging. I urge you to give natural, organic skincare a go; you’ll never look back.
